Daria Eliseeva, Head of Recruitment at Selecty, shared her insights with Zarplata.ru on the use of projective questions in hiring:
«Projective questions are an excellent way to see how a potential employee evaluates a situation, makes decisions, thinks critically, and what motivates them».
Some of these questions are directly related to professional tasks, while others take a more playful or creative form, – for example, «If our company were a car, what car would it be and why?».
According to Eliseeva, candidates should allow themselves to think freely and explore the question. The more open and positive the reaction, the stronger the impression they can make.
She adds that projective questions also help candidates themselves avoid ending up in the wrong team. In answering, they reveal their true mindset, thinking style, and behavioral patterns, exactly the qualities HR specialists and hiring managers evaluate when determining a fit with the company’s values and approach to work.
