Russia is experiencing a growing influx of specialists from India, including engineers and IT developers, amid a persistent talent shortage. Marina Balashkina, the head of customer services at Selecty, explains whether this influx can compensate for the shortage of qualified personnel in the Russian market:
«Indian specialists often have a very different approach to work. Their work culture, communication style and behavioural patterns may not be easy for all employers to adapt to. IT specialists from India who relocate to Russia are likely to cost much more than their Russian counterparts, while junior-level specialists are already plentiful in Russia and the CIS».
It is worth noting that for most IT employers, whether a specialist is based in Bangalore or Moscow area is not particularly important: a significant portion of the problems stem not from location but from cultural differences and communication issues.

«Our Russian-speaking clients from other countries (Cyprus, the Netherlands, Serbia and others) also prioritize developers with excellent Russian language skills to ensure maximum teamwork efficiency. This reduces the risk of hiring errors, lowers the likelihood of candidates failing their probation period, and minimises onboarding challenges».
